Vivie — Oil Painting

A series of 20 minute oil paintings done over the course of 10 days in a row.

Although oil painting is a familiar medium to me, it was a challenge to restrict myself to spend only 20 minutes per painting. I worked smaller than usual on 8x10” canvases, and used palette knives rather than paint brushes to force myself to think less about specific detail and more about expression and form. I found that plants were a popular muse for me throughout this series, so in the end I used the paintings to create a brand for a local artisanal plant shop called “Vivie.”
