Image/Imagination — Mixed Media
A series of mixed media visual experimentation inspired by a passage from “A Tree Grows in Brooklyn.”
This assignment began with selecting a meaningful and impactful passage of text, and extracting themes that could translate to visual experimentations. I challenged myself to explore unconventional methods of image-making like ripping, burning, and scanning, and utilize unconventional materials like food, kleenex, glue, plastic wrap, water, and random items around my apartment.
The themes I pulled from my passage were fading memories, nostalgia, decay, confusion, and opposition.
